A Godly Wife: Get a Mind of your Own!

For my first Post I thought I would hit on an "oldie but a goodie." And something I've been personally studying, of late.

this link will take you directly to Prov31

I've heard, and read, various opinions on what it means in Proverbs to be a "Good Christian Wife." Some take the "to honor and obey" vows to mean a woman should have no thought of her own, nor make any decisions. To be in a controlling relationship where the "head of the household" aka the husband makes all decisions, all plans for the family.
In my opinion, from the studying I've been doing, I don't at all see this to be the case. And can't for the life of me, see how some come to this conclusion.
In fact, I think the husband and wife are each equal parts "head" of a part of the home.

Husband: Head of the Household
Leader of the family, Spiritual Leader

In 1 Corinthians 11:3, scripture says: But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of the wife is the husband, and the head of Christ is God. (esv)
Ephesians 5:22 says: Wives, submit to your husband as to the Lord.

Wife: Head of the Home
Leader of the Day-to-Day life of the family

Prov 31:10-31
Gen 2:18, Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make him a HELPER who is just right for him."
def of helper: a person or thing that helps or gives assistance, support, etc.

Wifely submission is not following the demands of a controlling spouse, nor is it being lazy and leaving all decisions on his shoulder, but working alongside the man she loves, following God's plan for their life.
A Godly Woman is to be a well thought and accomplished woman. She is to handle money, raise her children in a Godly environment, work (if that's the case), and to make some important decision for her home and family.

vs. 11 and 12 say that a good wife is one "Her husband can trust." That she will "greatly enrich his life." That she "brings him good and not harm, all the days of her life."
While her husband is at work (or even sitting at the city gates), she is herself working hard. Taking care of her home and her children and her job.
She takes the lead of the husband in her life, and spiritually, yes! But she also is to use her mind as well to bring order to her home, to make it a fruitful, safe, and enjoyable place for her family.

So wives, I hope you, like myself, will work harder on not only "honoring and obeying" your husband, but on being his helpmate. Don't leave everything up to him, God has given us a very important role in our families lives, it's time to stand up and accept this charge.
It's time to be the wives we are all called to be!

Her children stand and bless her! Her husband praises her: "There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!"
Prov 31:28-29
