Be Their Example

"Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like the children." Mark 10:14b

This past Saturday was my kid's birthday's. My son, Janzen turns 5 tomorrow and on the 18th of August my daughter, Crimson, turned 4. Everyday since they were born I have fallen more and more in love with them. They older they become, the more I pray for the wisdom in how to raise them. I want my children to know the pure love of Christ in their lives. for their beautiful innocence to stay in tact.

The Word says in Proverbs 22:6, Bring up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn away from it. What is the way they should go? To most of us, I think the answer is pretty obvious. But let's take a quick look into it, shall we?

Proverbs tells us in almost every chapter, that we should raise our children with wisdom and understanding, with love and discipline, with faithfulness and Trust in the Lord. But, how do you do that?

Well, how does your Pastor raise your spirit in the Lord? With teaching, lessons, and most of all, love.

You teach your children in many ways: Through your actions, your words (whether to them or those around you), your home, and your relationships. Our job as parents is to strive to live our life in such a way as too be a beacon for our children, a rock they can lean on, and the person they can watch, as a guideline for their own lives. It is one of the biggest responsibilities in a person's life, but it's also one that brings the most joy. In today's world, children are raised to live "their own way". There is no discipline, no lesson's in a better way to live their life, no faith...

Children need structure. They need an example. And they'll find it, whether you give it to them or not. So will you bring them up the way they should live their life, in a loving, faith-filled home... Or will you just watch them grow and let the someone else lead them down a path? We have a mission parents, which ones of you are going to cowboy up?
